Bible verses for retirement
Last reviewed
Retirement as such is not a biblical category, but long life, accumulated experience and the handing on of work certainly are, and they are usually treated with respect rather than condescension.
The passages below reflect that. Several concern what is passed to the people who come next, which is often what retirement turns out to be about.

12The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree. He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 13They are planted in the LORD’s house. They will flourish in our God’s courts. 14They will still produce fruit in old age. They will be full of sap and green,
Even to old age I am he, and even to grey hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear. Yes, I will carry, and will deliver.
Grey hair is a crown of glory. It is attained by a life of righteousness.
Don’t reject me in my old age. Don’t forsake me when my strength fails.
So teach us to count our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

I have fought the good fight. I have finished the course. I have kept the faith.
