Bible verses about gratitude
Last reviewed
Thanksgiving is one of the dominant modes of the Psalms, and a recurring instruction in the New Testament letters. Notably, several of the most emphatic passages about it were written from prison or to communities under pressure.
There is a version of this topic that becomes a demand — a suggestion that a person in difficulty ought to be more grateful. That is not what these passages are doing, and it is not how they are presented here.
What they do offer is language. Gratitude is easier to hold when there are words for it, and the Psalms in particular supply a great many.
