Bible verses for anxiety

Last reviewed

Anxiety is one of the most common reasons people search for a Bible verse, and it is a topic that deserves care rather than a list of reassuring lines.

Two things are worth saying at the start. First, none of these passages describes anxiety as a personal failure, and this site does not treat it as one. Second, a verse is not a treatment. If anxiety is affecting your sleep, your work, your relationships or your body, that is worth taking to a doctor — and doing so is entirely compatible with whatever you believe.

With that said, the passages below have been read by people in difficulty for a very long time. Each shows its reference and translation, and links to the surrounding chapter, because several of them read quite differently once you can see what was happening around them.
