Bible verses for loneliness

Last reviewed

Loneliness appears in the Bible more often as a described experience than as a problem to be solved. Psalms speak of being forgotten; Elijah says he is the only one left; Paul writes that at one hearing everyone deserted him.

The passages below sit alongside that honesty. If loneliness has become persistent, talking to someone — a friend, a doctor, or a helpline — is worth more than any list of verses, and that is not a failure of faith.
