1Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand on the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers; 2but his delight is in the LORD’s law. On his law he meditates day and night. 3He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, that produces its fruit in its season, whose leaf also does not wither. Whatever he does shall prosper.
1A Psalm of thanksgiving. Shout for joy to the LORD, all you lands! 2Serve the LORD with gladness. Come before his presence with singing.
4Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, and bless his name. 5For the LORD is good. His loving kindness endures forever, his faithfulness to all generations.
Reading a whole book
Chapter and verse numbers were added centuries after these texts were written, and they occasionally fall in awkward places. If a chapter seems to begin mid-thought, it may well be doing exactly that — reading the end of the previous chapter usually resolves it.
