28“Come to me, all you who labour and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
37Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38This is the first and great commandment. 39A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’
Even so, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
Reading a whole book
Chapter and verse numbers were added centuries after these texts were written, and they occasionally fall in awkward places. If a chapter seems to begin mid-thought, it may well be doing exactly that — reading the end of the previous chapter usually resolves it.
