Selected passages from Mark
Passages from this book that have been reviewed as reading clearly on their own.
30You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. 31The second is like this: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
Reading a whole book
Chapter and verse numbers were added centuries after these texts were written, and they occasionally fall in awkward places. If a chapter seems to begin mid-thought, it may well be doing exactly that — reading the end of the previous chapter usually resolves it.
